Lost or found?

Lost or found?

Should I respond to the droning of the South African drum?

I hear about your thunder, I see images of your lighting strikes over the bare ridden landscape ...wild animals roaming the bushveld.

Lost...

I am given traditional food at home, listen to South African music, still speak my mother tonge Afrikaans - all to remind me of my heritage and country of birth.

Found...

But, I don't remember this place once called home. I can only relive some of it through your eyes - Mum and dad - I remember grandad, but not his stories. They are not part of me anymore.

Lost...

Nationally  - British Citizen. I know nothing else. Victoria sponge, Bangers and Mash, Sunday Roast, Fish and Chips and Eatonmess. This is what I know best.

Found...

Most tell me I don't belong, I'm not what my passport says. I'm not British because I was born in deep dark Africa. I have to explain in vain about this stain of legal immigration.

Lost...

Family sacrifices made when I was four - I remember nothing about this detour.  Leaving behind everything and everyone we knew, to open a new door.

Found..

Great Britain - now a teenager - swearing leigence to Queen and country. The only county I call home. The only place I've ever truly known.

Perhaps still stained.

Lost...

Found.
